Who are we..?

We are Steven and Nicky Pegg, a British couple living in Bulgaria since January 2006. In our past lives in the UK we combined “regular jobs” (in education and the arts, and in Steven's case previously as a translator in Russia) with the refurbishment, upkeep and management of our own rental properties, both residential and holiday lets. Our passion for property has flourished further since we first came to Bulgaria in Autumn 2004 to buy what is now our home half an hour’s drive from Veliko Tarnovo, and moving here has enabled us to devote ourselves full-time to property investment, management and consultancy. On the investment side, we are managing partners and majority shareholders in Sunflower Estates Ltd, a consortium investing in properties here for resale and rentals. We both hold degrees in Russian, which is one of the closest languages to Bulgarian, but since moving here we have of course focused on developing our Bulgarian. We now definitely regard Russian as our third language and Bulgarian as our second, and are thus able to interface with total confidence and effectiveness with local people, organizations, bureaucracy and tradespeople, to get things done efficiently, to keep on top of details and to foster goodwill with the local community. Through New Tuscany we seek to share our hands-on knowledge, skills and experience with the public by offering a range of services designed to help other home owners, prospective home owners and visitors to get the very best out of this beautiful part of southern Europe.
